Plant description
A mid to late-season cooking apple, ‘Lord Derby’ produces clusters of pale-pink flowers in spring with mid-green, yellow-hued, large fruit in autumn. An exceptionally hardy and disease-resistant variety, it is only partially self-fertile (belonging to pollination group 3) so will require a partner to crop well. Best cooked early when still green for a sharp taste.
Plants grafted onto M26 rootstocks (semi-vigorous) will eventually grow to 3m x 3m in height and spread at maturity, while those on MM106 rootstocks (vigorous) will grow to 4m x 4m.
