Plant description
This recent introduction is slightly more compact than many of the other montanas, which makes it better suited to smaller gardens. Appearing at around the same time as the double, dusky pink flowers, the foliage emerges with a chocolate-purple flush, but this subdues as the leaves mature, first to bronze and then to green. It’s a showy, fast-growing climber that creates an impressive sight when fully laden with its abundance of late pring/early summer bloom.
