Plant description
A substantial deciduous shrub or tree, boasting wide, rough, mid-green leaves. Late winter to early spring sees the appearance of hanging yellow/brown catkins, followed by clusters of large, rounded, edible nuts in autumn. These nuts are not only excellent for direct consumption but also fare well in various culinary applications. The tree is a robust cropper, and its kernels delectable for several years, provided they are stored correctly. While ‘Webb’s Prize Cob’ is partially self-fertile and can produce nuts independently, its yield is significantly enhanced when cross-pollinated with a different cobnut.
